The ultimate peaks team offer tailor made rides on the best trails the Peaks has to offer

Ultimate Peaks MTB Adventures

Bespoke Guided Tours

With over 10 years of experience our knowledge of the peak district and its trails is second to none. We'll ensure you get everything you want from your time with us.

If you are used to riding red and black runs at a trail centre, you will love the rocks, roots and drops that the Dark Peak offers. If you more at home on a blue run, you will be more suited to the White Peak however you may still find some stretches more challenging than you are used to. DONT PANIC help will always be at hand from one of our experienced guides who will offer tips to enhance your ride on some of the more technical sections.

Our aim is to provide all guests with tailor made rides that deliver their Ultimate Peak experience.

Please be aware - Ultimate Peaks holidays are not suitable for beginners. We find that having groups with too wide a span of abilities leads to dissatisfaction for all.

Just Stay – Ride your way

At Ultimate Peaks we understand that not everyone wants a guide – some of you just want to get out there and do it!

Are you a rider of the 80's? Is old school your way? Is it an OS map and see where the day takes you?

If this is you we offer room only stays in our luxury accommodation.

We can provide pick up or drop off services if you want to start or finish your ride at different locations.

We understand it’s all about the mountains but let’s be honest it’s also about the beer after a long days ride...... don’t worry we will pick you up from your chosen ale house and return you safely to base without you needing to worry about the drive home!

For those coming by train or plane we also offer drop off & pick up service if required.

Pick ups and Drop Offs

The weather in the Peaks can be varied and we would recommend that you come prepared. Some of the rides are long and remote and you will need to use energy or hydrating drinks and carry energy bars or gels. We would recommend that you carry a rucksack/hydration pack (in English - a water pouch you can drink on the go!). This allows you to carry other trail essentials i.e. waterproofs, food, tubes, pump, multi-tool etc. But don’t despair cafés, pubs and cake shops can be added to your bespoke ride if requested.

Our guides wear gloves elbow & knee pads as some of our trails can be rocky.

It’s not all about falling off sometimes the rocks just make a B-line for you!

We have a strict "No Helmet - No Ride" policy

Parts, Tools and Repairs

Ultimate Peaks customers benefit from an exclusive partnership with Igloo Cycles (MTB Specialists) we are able to offer unique deals on upgrades, spare parts, tools and advice from their in house experts Rob and Nick.

A WiFi network, Wii-Fit & X Box games console, media system and LCD screens in each room. Old school board games and MTB magazines will give you the opportunity to truly kick back and unwind after enjoying the outdoors.

The utility room with washer and dryer is just what's needed to wash the trail off of your gear.

Ashover Singletrack (White Peak)

This is a short ride with a bit of everything included, mainly on single track all up and down very little flat riding. This ride includes one of the areas fastest long descents without being too technical.

This ride is one of my favourite local blasts, 3 really good downhills and some cracking scenery, finishing off at the Poets with a selection of real ales

Trail Details

Distance: 8 to 12 miles

Ascent: 350 – 500 mtrs

Grade: Red (Medium)

Calver (White Peak)

A mixture of narrow lanes and fast quarry tracks with great views from Curbar Gap, across Calver to Great Longston.

A great fitness ride with nothing too technical, the uphills are challenging but the downhills are fast flowing

Trail Details

Distance: 13 miles

Ascent: 600 mtrs

Grade: Blue (Easy)

Jacobs Ladder (Dark Peak - part 1)

This is a real "wilderness" ride that builds to a fantastic finale descending down Jacobs ladder. This is a very demanding ride covering challenging terrain, but at the end of the day it is the Ultimate Peak classic.

Simply one of the best rides there is

Paul Tilley

Co Director and Ultimate Peaks MTB Chief Guide

Over the years I've worked in McDonalds, been a DJ, run bars & managed a nightclub before becoming a qualified tiler and bathroom fitter (always knew there was more to life) As a qualified snowboard instructor (aka winter adrenaline junkie) my passion for fitness and thrill seeking in the summer lead me to be a Mountain Bike enthusiast. This passion became an obsession and Ultimate Peaks was born.

Growing up in the Peaks I have always enjoyed the scenery, ridden all the MTB trails and have extensive local knowledge so this seemed like the obvious answer.

White & Dark

Ultimate Peaks Snowy trails. are you white or dark?

White & Dark

White Peak

Although less well know than the dark peak, the white peak has some amazing & mainly unspoilt trails... so whether you love the smoothness of the single tracks thought the trees or trying your luck on some massive chunks of limestone then the white peak is for you...

Dark Peak

The dark peak is the one everyone goes for, due to its ruggedness & amazing views. its very fast, very rocky big drops lots of tree roots, streams to get soaked in & more than anything else the hills seem like mountains with everything I've just mentioned in the opposite direction. but most of all a day out here means you are up there with the best, this is world class riding that people come for miles & miles to ride.

Bespoke MTB Rides

Our Rides & Riders

Our routes are designed to be enjoyable and suit varying abilities - but will challenge even the most experienced riders at times.

Each ride is different, and tailor made rides are available for larger group bookings. Your guide will give you a feel for the ride before you leave and make you aware of tricky areas during the ride to maintain the flow.

Improving Riders

Being up front - our holidays are not suitable for beginners. You’ll be experienced in riding on singletrack trails, and will be used to riding challenging trails.

Our holidays mainly suit people who have been riding regularly for at least a year, but don’t worry – you don’t need to be an expert to ride our trails.

Experienced Riders

People who want to experience more If you want a challenge you will not be disappointed by our trails – we ride a lots of routes that can test even the most skilled riders at times.

None of our rides are technically “easy” but as we tailor them to your needs we can make sure you get the bits you are looking for out of the days ride. We can offer crazy downhills or faster flowing singletrack rides - it's your call.
